White & Burgundy Porsche 944 Turbo Headed to Carlisle’s Fall Auction
Garage-kept 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo comes with fresh belts, a five-speed manual, and a ton of Eighties cool to go around.
Though we’re only a few days away from fall, the signs are already here. Your children are already off to school or college, the sun sets earlier and earlier every evening, and Ralph Lauren’s autumn/winter collection is about to hit the shelves of your favorite high-end clothing store.
Thus, it’s the perfect time to find a new car for your garage. We were recently looking through the consignments available from Carlisle Auctions’ upcoming “Fall Carlisle” auction (Oct. 3 and 4) when this 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo popped up on our radar.
Motivating this Eighties throwback is a 2.5-liter turbo-four packing 280 horses through the five-speed manual. Considering the 944 Turbo made 217 back in its day, this is quite the jump in power, likely helped by the addition of a Garrett turbo with an adjustable boost controller. The engine also has a fresh set of belts, with the receipts to go with them.
Inside the Porsche is a burgundy leather interior with bits of black trim and a Momo steering wheel to guide those fresh horses around the bend upon the 17-inch Cup wheels. There’s also a sunroof to welcome the autumn sun until winter’s chill wraps itself around the day. And speaking of the weather, the whole affair has been garage-kept by its current owner, ensuring the car wasn’t needlessly exposed to the elements when not out and about on the highway.
The Porsche is one of a handful of lots in the auction catalog thus far, with over 500 expected by the time the first car rolls across the block. The auction, scheduled for October 3 and 4, will be held inside the Carlisle Expo Center, with specific brands holding court on a given hour, plus a dinner for attendees between 5 and 8 p.m..
The auction itself is part of the Fall Carlisle extravaganza, held at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds October 2 through 6. There, you’ll happen upon a massive flea market with 8,100 spaces worth of vendors selling anything and everything you could think of, from parts for your project to memorabilia. You can also buy a car outside of the auction through the Carlisle Car Corral, and check out the latest and greatest at the Manufactures Midway.
Tickets to the Fall Carlisle are $35 for a full pass, $12 for a single-day entry Wednesday through Saturday, $7 on Sunday; children 12 and under gain free admission.
