Spy Shots: 2017 Aston Martin DB11
A 2017 Aston Martin DB11 development car was recently spotted cruising the icy roads of the Austrian Alps.
Its exterior is mostly unfinished, but it looks to be drawing a lot of design cues from the fictional DB10 that was created for the latest James Bond movie, Spectre. There’s definitely DB9 DNA present, with the rear end seeming more compact than previous generations.
Aston Martin has been tight-lipped about many details of the car, but so far, we know that the DB11 will be built on an updated VH platform, referred to internally as VH5, and will feature a Mercedes sourced twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. This is a variation of the engine that debuted with the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT. The new platform will also accommodate a 6.0-liter V12 which will be supplied by Ford until at least 2018.
It’s too early to say what the final form of the DB11 will look like, but a reveal is currently scheduled for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, and speculators point at Aston’s track-only Vulcan as an indicator to the company’s design direction.
