Driving an Acura NSX is Like Taking a Step Back In Time

A few weeks ago, I was able to live out a boyhood dream of mine. I got the opportunity to meet one of my heroes. No, it wasn’t someone famous. It was an automotive icon that changed the world of supercars altogether. I’m talking, of course, about the Acura NSX.

In its time, the NSX was the car that helped take the fight to the likes of Lamborghini and Ferrari. It offered superb handling and a great naturally aspirated motor that revved all the way up to 9,000 rpm. It was also one of the only cars that had technical input from the late Ayrton Senna. The NSX was a car that millions of children wanted, not only due to its brilliantly designed body and engine, but also because of the success of video games like Gran Turismo.

When this 2005 NSX was dropped off in front of my door by the Honda Museum staff, I was told I could only put 150 miles on it over the course of a week, so I had to make them count. I made sure that I did and used up every single mile, plus a few extra. In doing so, I discovered the Acura NSX is a brilliant car – one that leaves some fairly big shoes to fill to its upcoming successor.
