Porsche-driving Steelers Star Catches Speeding Ticket in the Red Zone

In search of a robbery suspect, local police end up stopping wide receiver Antonio Brown in his 911 GT3, pushing it past 100 mph.

When you’re a top-tier professional athlete, you have it all. The hundreds of millions of dollars from your contracts with your team and sponsors means the ability to buy the house of your dreams and a few luxury performance rides to fill your home’s massive garage.

Of course, all of that fame and success can go to your head if you’re not careful. For one, you might think you can speed and get away with it. That was not the case for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, though. Pittsburgh CBS affiliate KDKA-TV reports that Brown was caught doing over 100 mph in his black 911 GT3 by the Ross Township Police Department, who were in the middle of a manhunt of their own.

The story began earlier on the morning of November 8, when the township police were on the scene of a robbery at a local bank. The police were looking for a suspect who fled on foot, and with no vehicle description to go by, the officers were left to look for anyone who might appear to be making a quick exit from the robbery area.

Thus, the officers posted themselves along McKnight Road “in case he goes south on McKnight,” per one officer on the radio. That officer spotted a 911 GT3 moments later “going south on McKnight in excess of 90 [mph].” He and three other officers chased after the Porsche, finally catching it on McKnight and Westview Avenue.

Once they realized it was Brown and not their suspect, two officers remained to write up the wide receiver for reckless driving above 100 mph in his 911 GT3.

Steelers representative Burt Lauten told KDKA the organization was “aware of the situation, but we are still gathering information. We won’t have any further comment at this time.”

This isn’t the first time a Steelers player got caught on McKnight. According to The Drive, estranged running back Le’Veon Bell was stopped in 2014 by the township police on a suspected DUI. As for Brown, the charge for reckless driving like his is a six-month suspended license and a total of $316.50 in fines and court costs. That should give Brown plenty of time to tune up his 911 GT3, though.
