Sale is part of RM Sotheby’s Porsche 70th Anniversary Auction at the Porsche Experience Center in Georgia.

The 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is the ultimate performance package for the 997 era and with just 600 units produced globally, it was one of the rarest. The 997 GT3 RS 4.0 shown here was specially-built for Jerry Seinfeld by Porsche Exclusive, creating the most unique version of the race-bred supercar and it will soon roll across the auction block of the RM Sotheby’s Porsche 70th Anniversary Auction at the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta.

When this 911 hits the auction block, someone will have a chance to own one of the most remarkable machines from the 997 era, but it won’t come cheap, with this car expected to fetch between $800,000 and $1,000,000.

When the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 was introduced, it combined everything that the German automaker had learned during the 997 era into one supercar. The “normal” GT3 RS was an impressive machine, but the 4.0 package took the car to a whole new level of naturally-aspirated performance. The flat-six Boxer engine offers 500 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque thanks to an array of then-new features, including a new intake manifold, high-flow air filters within carbon fiber housings, high-flow  catalytic converters, Variocam-Plus variable valve timing and a two-stage variable induction system.

Next, the RS 4.0 package cuts 22 pounds from the regular GT3 RS, adding carbon fiber front fenders, a carbon fiber trunk lid and titanium connecting rods. Also, in most cases, the RS 4.0 had a bare-bones interior that helped to reduce weight, but the car shown here has a unique, loaded interior.

Only 600 examples of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 were built and this was the last one to come off of the line, wearing serial number 009 and built to the unique demands of Seinfeld.

When the comedian and car collector worked with Porsche Exclusive to build his 997 911 GT3 RS 4.0, he wasn’t happy with just having a car that was one of 600. Seinfeld wanted a car that was far more unique and the German automaker was ready and willing to work with the insanely-wealthy celebrity.

On the outside, Seinfeld skipped the hood and side stripes that come on most RS 4.0 cars, instead opting for the subtle callouts behind the front wheels. He also went with black exterior paint and silver-painted center-locking wheels, ceramic composite brakes and high-gloss exposes carbon fiber parts, including the hood, rear wing and side mirrors. This was the only 911 GT3 RS 4.0 built with the exposed carbon fiber, making this the most-unique of the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 supercars.

The inside was also unique with leather covering just about everything shy of the headliner. The doors, dash, seats and center console are all finished in black leather with silver contrasting stitching and options include the Sound Package Plus with Bluetooth Phone Interface, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, and a PCM with Extended Navigation.

When this car was delivered to Jerry Seinfeld in January of 2012, it was the most expensive car of its kind built, carrying an MSRP of $245,515. Today, it is worth far more, with the auction website predicting a selling price of $800,000 to $1,000,000, making this one-of-one Porsche an excellent investment six years ago.

Again, this car will be sold to the highest bidder at the RM Sotheby’s Porsche 70th Anniversary Auction on October 27, 2018 alongside many other amazing German sports cars that are likely to fetch upwards of a million dollars.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
