Italians Do it Better: Box Set Celebrates 50 Years of ‘Italian Job’
U.K.’s Porter Press’ The Italian Job Classic Bundle includes pair of books and DVDs providing in-depth look at classic 1969 film.
When most people think of the The Italian Job, they likely think of the 2003 heist movie starring Mark Wahlberg and a bunch of other famous stars. That movie is certainly entertaining. The original 1969 though was far cooler and stars Michael Caine. It opens with a stunning Lamborghini Miura driving through the Italian alps. I won’t spoil the plot. Let’s just say that the Mafia gets involved and the opening scene ends badly for the Lamborghini driver. The Italian Job went on to become an incredibly popular movie. In addition to the 2003 version the movie has been parodied and even earned a reference on an episode of The Simpsons TV show.
Porter Press International in England is celebrating 50 years of the movie with the launch of their Italian Job Classic Bundle. The collection includes a pair of books and a DVD set. The books includes a copy of The Self Preservation Society by Matthew Field. The book is an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the production of the original movie. The book took 20 years to complete and features rare documents that have never been seen. The second book in the bundle is the Mini Scrapbook by Martin Port. The book covers the history of the Mini, one of the classic cars featured in the original movie.
Perhaps most importantly the Italian Job Classic Bundle features a 50th Anniversary Deluxe DVD set of The Italian Job. The set is packaged in a black and gold gift box and comes with a collector’s certificate, a complete script of the film and even a replica of a 1960 British driver’s license.
There is also an anniversary poster and six post cards featuring classic film art. The Italian Job movie comes on a DVD as well as Blu-ray. Hop over and check out the Italian Job Classic Bundle on the Porter Press International website. It’s practically a must have for die-hard fans of the original movie.
