Insanely Rare Ferrari F40 Burnt to Ashes
Pour one out for this Ferrari F40, our lost petrol-powered brother.
The world is now a slightly more desolate and uninteresting place. A Ferrari F40 has burned to the ground, leaving little more than some melted wheels and part of a frame. Worse yet, this is not just any Ferrari F40 (if there is such a thing). It is suspected that this particular piece of Maranello is actually the nearly-priceless F40 Prototype owned by Jon Hunt.
The car started life as a prototype, shown off at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1987, and was later converted into an F40 GT racer. It was part of a large parade of Ferrari cars in Italy that was believed to be on the way to Maranello. In 2014, Hunt took a similar trip in a similar parade of Ferraris to go pick up his LaFerrari. He was reportedly headed to pick up his drop-top Aperta version of the LaFerrari when this tragedy occurred.

Believe it or not, it is likely that this car will be reconstructed, thankfully. Despite being little more than a pile of ash and melted metal, these cars are worth so much money that simply having the VIN plate will make it worth the cost investment to have it rebuilt.
We will be sure to update you guys if we learn more. For now, we just ask for a moment of silence for the destroyed supercar. May it rise again.
