B is For Build LS Swapped Twin Turbo Lamobrghini Gallardo with Manual Transmission

Lamborghini bought at salvage auction goes from a burnt down mess to the world’s first manually shifted Huracan, and its got an LS in it.

While SEMA 2019 seems in the distant past already, we have been playing catch-up due to the vast amount of amazing projects we found there. Take, for example, this custom widebody Lamborghini. This car started life as a turbocharged Lamborghini Huracan that had been reduced to a molten pile of metal and plastic thanks to a fuel pressure regulator failure. Incredibly, in the span of around six months, this car was given a whole new body, powerplant and even the first manual transmission in a Huracan. We could not have been more excited to see this thing in person!

A world of firsts

Less than half a year ago, YouTuber Chris Steinbacher of the popular channel B is For Build revealed his ambitious purchase. The majority of the world would have seen this half-destroyed beast and never given it a snowball’s chance in hell at seeing the road again. Not Steinbacher, though. He had a vision. If not for the fact that you can watch this build come together on his youtube channel, you would never believe it’s the same car.

Steinbacher is no stranger to rebuilding wrecked cars. However, after his insane SEMA project from last year, a Datsun 240z essentially body swapped onto a BMW M5 chassis, he wanted to step his game up. It wasn’t good enough to just rebuild a Huracan. Instead, he opted for a manual transmission. To make this a reality, Steinbacher installed the manual transaxle assembly from a Lamborghini Gallardo. Of course, this wasn’t just a bolt-in type deal. A custom setup to run the assembly is necessary, as no manual Huracans exist. This means the shifter linkage, clutch pedal assembly, axles, and everything in between are custom.

This means, then, that merely bolting the beastly V10 up to the trans would be child’s play, right? Well, it’s not quite that simple, but Steinbacher again took a never before seen direction. Instead of the screaming Italian ten-cylinder, a twin-turbocharged Texas Speed LS engine powers this monster. It is said to make 1,500 wheel horsepower. That’s more than enough to give you the ride of your life.

To deep dive into the amount of work required to make this powertrain a reality would take far too long to explain with words. The video series is absolutely the best way to grasp the insanity behind it fully. Though, it isn’t just the engine and transmission that is mind-blowing.

Crazy composite customization

This Huracan is far from stock in terms of its body parts. Many of the parts you see are handcrafted by Steinbacher and crew using Carbon Fiber vacuum bagging techniques. Additionally, most of the front end is from an actual Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo race car. There is virtually no part of this vehicle that hasn’t been modified.

To accommodate the massively wide Rotiform wheels, the B is For Build crew designed and built this carbon fiber widebody rear-end from scratch. There is not another one like it in the world. It’s pretty remarkable to look at. While some have criticized the panel fitment and specific design elements, it’s worth remembering that this entire build was done on a shoestring timeframe. Even without considering that, pictures just don’t quite do it justice. Seeing this car in person would change anyone’s mind.

Not many have the initiative to pull off a project of even half this scale. What’s more, the remarkably fast construction of such a unique automobile is unparalleled. We can not give enough praise to Steinbacher and his crew, because there will likely not be another example of something this extreme any time soon. We genuinely look forward to further installments of this build. While the LS engine powering this thing may be sacrilege to some, we can’t help but be impressed.
