“Ferrari understands better than any other company how to make luxury sports cars objects of desire. The designers use state-of-the-art technology and an emotionally appealing language of form to create an incomparable driving and brand experience,” said Dr Peter Zec, CEO, Red Dot.

“Red Dot has accompanied the history of design and has helped to promote its evolution by establishing ever higher terms of comparison, pursuing the constant improvement of aesthetic and technological qualities of the universe of objects in daily use. As designers, this accolade encourages all the members of the Ferrari Design Team to draw new creative stimulation, which fuels our passion for our work,” said Manzoni, who became the design head of Ferrari in 2010.

The Monza SP1 is a limited-edition Ferrari that costs around $1.8 million. It is a part of the Ferrari Icona product range which also includes the Monza SP2 (essentially the two-seat variant of the SP1). Ferrari first showcased the SP1 and the SP2 models last year.

The design of the Monza SP1 is inspired by vintage Ferrari models of the 1950s. That said, under the hood, the SP1 features a 6.5-liter V12 naturally aspirated engine that produces 800 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque. The Monza SP1 can sprint from 0-60 miles per hour in less than 3 seconds and achieve a top speed of over 186 mph. Note that, the Ferrari 812 Superfast, which competes with the Lamborghini Aventador S, has got the same engine as the Monza SP1.
