David Brown Automotive Presents the Mini Remastered

Think of it as a special edition box set with remastered bonus tracks.

When a beloved classic gets re-imagined, it can definitely be a bad thing. Let’s not revisit the deluge of awful Hollywood remakes of once-great films, or the terrible cover versions of timeless songs we hear in television commercials.

At least in the car world, reinterpretations of classic models usually go a little better. Especially lately, with Singer leading the way with their Porsche 911s. They combine the best of all worlds, creating long-hood, wide-body air-cooled 911s with modern performance and stunning attention to detail.

If your vision of a modern classic is less ostentatious, David Brown Automotive has just what you’re looking for. The Mini Remastered is a complete nut and bolt restoration of an original Mini, with just the right amount of modern convenience and build quality otherwise unimaginable in a mass-produced economy car.

The legendary Mini’s iconic shape is unchanged, and to the casual observer, nothing seems different from a well-restored original. However, the engine is said to produce over 30% more power, thanks to a full rebuild and improved components.

The interior looks like a combination of classic Mini with modern MINI convenience. There’s even a cup holder and a well-integrated GPS unit in the dash. The fit, finish, and materials are worlds apart from what any original Mini customer could have expected back in the day, and surely the price will reflect that.

There will be special editions available, too, including a Cafe Racer model inspired by cafe racer motorcycles. And then there’s the Monte Carlo, inspired by the iconic rallying Mini of the late 1960s. Each will be limited to just 25 units.

Otherwise, buyers will have a large selection of paint colors, interior trims, and wheels to make their Mini Remastered their own. It’s likely that no two will be the same.
