Callaway C16 Roadster

The Callaway C16 Speedster is a one-of-one highly-modified Chevrolet Corvette that’s ready for a new home.

If you’re familiar with the Callaway C16 Speedster, you were probably present for the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Otherwise, you’re probably just misremembering things. That’s because there’s only one in the world, and you’re looking at it! Despite this being the case, this thing is actually available for purchase, believe it or not. All you’ve got to do is put forth a winning bid. Quick warning, though, it’s not going to come cheap.

The Speedster is currently for sale on the powerhouse auction website Bring A Trailer. Naturally, something like this is going to fetch a pretty hefty price tag. Anyone familiar with the history between Corvettes and Callaway should know this thing has some power backing up its wild looks. It’s no secret that fast and rare combine to make for hefty price tags. At the time of writing, the auction has five days remaining and already has a bid of $160,000.

Stunning Looks and Supercharged LS Power

Under the hood of the Callaway Speedster is a supercharged 6.2-liter LS3 engine that feeds power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. That adds up perfectly fine, considering the Callaway C16 Speedster is based on the C6 Chevrolet Corvette. In fact, the listing even states that the car comes with a clean title, identifying it as a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette. As is pretty evident from the photos, though, the engine and transmission assembly are about the only factory Corvette components remaining.

The body is a completely custom and one-off design done for Callaway by Paul Deutschman. Callaway assembled the car in Montreal, Canada, and finished it all off with a nice Azure Pearl paint finish. Inside you’ll find a leather-wrapped steering wheel with Alcantara accents and an odometer that reads only 670 miles. Though, having no top and no side glass is likely a significant contributor to its lack of time spent on the road.

It’s Undoubtedly Cool, but It’s Also Wildly Inconvenient

Let’s face it. This is an extremely niche sale. Not only does one have to have the money to buy it, but one also has to have a place to store it out of the weather, considering it is completely uncovered and open to the elements. Something like this needs a climate-controlled garage. But we digress; there are already six bids in the bidding history. Evidently, then, the niche buyers have been found.

Overall, it’s a pretty cool piece to take a look at. Though we can’t say it’s something we’d like to own, it’s something we can definitely appreciate!
