Bugatti Chiron Put to the Test
Bugatti attempts to fill the shoes of the outgoing Veyron with the immensely-powerful Chiron. Is it up to the test?
Once you have accomplished as much as Bugatti has with the Veyron, how much further can the envelope really be pushed? Far back in 2005, the Veyron emerged on to the automotive scene backed by the entire might of the VW group. It changed the way things were written about cars, engineering, and driving.
Test numbers left by the Veyron were the dangling carrot for other manufacturers. As such, a new segment emerged: the hypercar. So yeah, mighty tasks lay ahead for the Chiron.

Considering hybrid powertrains are now conventional, large displacement and a multitude of cylinders seem ludicrously old-school. The Chiron does not want for power, however. Totaling close to 1,500 hp, the Chiron wins in the horsepower wars… by several hundred.
But it’s not a one-trick pony. Re-calibration of the steering means you can put an absurd amount of trust in something with such power. Active aero and all-wheel drive give you the confidence to cozy up to the limit, making you feel like all of your actions are addressed in a concise way.
Power though unconventional means is what truly sets the Chiron above. Nurburgring doesn’t even really blip on this car’s radar, but top speed does. Limited (per Michelin’s advice) at 261 miles per hour, it has no peers, as these review videos clearly show.
