Bill Goldberg Wrestles, Crashes Toyota NASCAR Truck at Goodwood

Too much speed into right hand turn causes trip into hay bales for WWE legend.

Every once in a while, a well-off celebrity will try their hand at motorsports. Rarely does it end in anything other than spectacular calamity, and former WWE wrestler Bill Goldberg put on such a spectacle at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with his very own Toyota Tundra NASCAR racing truck. While it’s true that you do need some experience to race at the Goodwood hillclimb, a racing license simply can’t factor in over-exuberance.

Too much speed is exactly what got Goldberg into trouble. Half way through the twisty hillclimb, a right hand turn was taken too fast, and Goldberg impacted the outside of the corner on the left hand side, which kicked the tail of the truck out to the right, with the back-end of the truck coming to rest near hay bales on the right side. Since it caused full course blockage on the narrow passage, the event had to be halted in order to assist Goldberg and make sure he was OK.

Thankfully, he was fine apart from a bruised ego, and aside from some slightly crinkled fenders and re-arranged hay, the course was cleared up and the truck was cleared from the course.  It makes you wonder if those bales of hay are as soft as a wrestling mat.

Now, we know what you might be thinking: “it’s a NASCAR truck, of course it can’t turn right!” But it could very well be one of the chassis set up for road course racing, as the trucks did race on some of those tracks. As for Goldberg, his collection of cars indicated he’s more of a fan of muscle than precision, as it consists of American V8‘s. But we still can’t fault him for giving Goodwood a shot!
