Does the Batmobile Get Sideways?
Holy snowbanks Batman, this Batmobile can drift!
You may have come across the riveting Will it Blend? videos, well now itâs time for a brave new YouTube series, Will it Drift? Technically, no car is un-driftable, but letâs be honest, there are some front-drivers and awkward top-heavy affairs out there that really donât make one feel confident smoothing curbs.
All the same, what better vehicle is there to launch Will it Drift than the legendary Batmobile? The lads at Car Throttle found a way to get their hands on one, and the latest model, at that. If you missed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, be prepared, because this thing is hideously, egregiously ugly.
Lambo Roots
Ugly or not, Batman has made an upgrade from his previous American-built underpinnings.
Styling cues are somewhat borrowed from the Christopher Nolan âTumblerâ Batmobile, however rather than use a military vehicle with a Corvette drivetrain, Ben Affleckâs Bat Car is of Italian lineage — the Lamborghini Gallardo, to be specific. One thing thatâs not from the Gallardo is the interior, which is possibly worse than the carâs body.
Does the Batmobile have Two Left Feet?
Equipped with an Audi-derived V10 and rear-wheel drive, getting this thing to rotate should be no issue, right? Wrong. The cumbersome hero-car is clearly a challenge for Car Throttle host Alex to fling around. Even with help from a frozen lake, initial prospects look spotty at best.
But, as Batman would have it, Alex perseveres, and by the end of the video heâs got the hulking beast cocked sideways, and a good amount of opposite steering dialed in. âAttaboy, Alex, we know no self-respecting M3 owner would let a chance to leave their mark on a frozen lake slip through his fingers.
