AMS Builds Record-Setting, 6-Second Nissan GT-R

By -

AMS’s monster isn’t just the world’s fastest GT-R; it’s the world’s fastest all-wheel drive car.

Tuning powerhouse AMS Performance has thrown all their might at the GT-R. And the resulting build now take less than seven seconds to observe. Numbering things up, the GT-R passed in 6.937 seconds at a trap speed of 196.27 miles per hour. Getting a 6-second car wasn’t what you’d call easy, though. Engine number three powered the record-setting pass, as two engines failed during the weekend’s efforts.

As you can see in the video above, crew and fans alike all cheered when the 6.937 finally illuminated on the board. But the best reaction came from the driver, Gidi Chamdi. Joy overwhelms Gidi, after slipping into the 6s. He then humbly talks up his fellow competitors, saying they’ll be in the 6s soon, and it is worthwhile to keep up the hard work.

Third time may have been a charm with the engine, but at the far side of the pass, Gidi admitted the record-setting mill also had a few hiccups. If that’s true, then with more time to tinker, there’s a lot more speed to be had.

Additionally, the record comes with a bonus record, as no other all-wheel-drive car has yet to set a time that fast down the strip. All in, AMS now has the worlds-fastest GT-R, and the fastest all-wheel-drive car, too. We cant wait to see how much quicker this car gets throughout the year.
