At $30,000, New Ferrari Book is True Collectors Gem
For die-hard Ferrari enthusiasts, it just might be worth every penny.Â
Ferrari teamed up with art book publisher Taschen for a very special coffee table book unlike any other. For Il Fascino Ferrari, the automaker collaborated with the publisher to pen the ultimate Ferrari book. To that end, Ferrari opened up their archives to include very rare documents and never-before-seen photos to be used in the book. Taschen put out a special “Art Edition” of the book, of which there are only 250, and it includes a sculptural book stand styled as a V12 engine created by artist and designer Marc Newson. It’s a work of art, but it comes with a hefty pricetag: $30,000. Yeah, you read that right,
While that might sound crazy, this rare collectors item will no doubt find very eager buyers, especially as every copy was signed by Sergio Marchionne, John Elkann, and Piero Ferrari. The book and the hand-bent, flared chromed steel book stand are both remarkable and a perfect fit for the luxury brand. Il Fascino Ferrari is also available in a “Collectors Edition,” which comes without the very cool V12 stand, but is much more reasonable (ahem) at $6,000.
As for the book itself, Taschen describes it as offering “unrestricted access to hundreds of photographs from the Ferrari archives, and from private collectors.” It features a complete history of the company and of its iconic and groundbreaking cars, original documents from famous Ferrari drivers, and a comprehensive and never-before-seen appendix that compiles all of Ferrari’s victories, dating back to 1947.
It might not be for everyone, but it is certainly one of the most beautiful automotive books we have ever seen. And you’ll never find a book stand like this in Ikea.
If money were no object, wouldn’t you be throwing dollar bills at Taschen to own this stunning piece of Ferrari history?
