Lamborghini Opens First Corporate Identity Showroom in South Africa
The Urus takes center stage as Lamborghini celebrates a milestone in Cape Town after years of rapid growth.
Lamborghini has a new home in South Africa after the brand opened its very first Corporate Identity showroom and service facility in Cape Town. Lamborghini Cape Town is the first of twelve Middle Eastern region dealers to adopt Lamborghini’s new corporate identity. Toby Venter, CEO of LSM Distributors, owns and operates the new facility. Venter is no stranger to luxury brands, as LSM also holds exclusive distribution rights for Porsche and Bentley in South Africa.
A number of senior management from Lamborghini headquarters, guests, and customers attended the event. Along with Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. Despite the presence of some pretty impressive machinery, the company placed an extra emphasis on the Urus. Which is understandable given the fact that the new SUV was also making its effective debut in South Africa at the event.
This move in the Middle East and Africa market is the latest in what is shaping up to be dynamic growth for the brand. Lamborghini recently doubled the size of their production facilities after delivering 3,817 vehicles in 2017. Lambo now boasts 150 dealerships in 50 countries. The U.S. continues to own the largest slice of the sales pie, however, owning 30% of the total business.
Lambo’s customers are getting younger and younger, too. A whopping 70% of orders for the Urus are first-time buyers of the brand. But make no mistake – this is not a Sport Utility Vehicle. Domenicali was quick to ensure attendees at the Cape Town event called it a Super Sports Utility Vehicle. And with 641 hp, a mid 3-second 0-60 time, and 190 mph top speed, who are we to argue?
