Trio of Carrera S and Carrera 4S models at the 2018 L.A. Auto Show present the path the 992-era of the Porsche 911 will take.

TeamSpeed is bringing you the best new models from the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, from the cars you can buy now if not soon, to concepts that will shape the future of motoring in the months and years to come.

This year’s L.A. Auto Show started with a bang with the long-awaited debut of the 2020 Porsche 911. Porsche brought a trio of Carrera S and Carrera 4S models to celebrate the unveiling, so we just had to head over to check out the newest 911 on the block.

Our first stop was one of two Carrera 4S 911s on display, this one in a stunning shade of blue. Tucked away in the back of the eighth-gen 911 is its brand-new boxer. The flat-six not only has bigger turbos, but also a revised cooling system, and piezo injectors for improved performance all around.

For the Carrera S and 4S, that means 443 horses and 390 lb-ft of torque to the wheels, a zero to 60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 190 mph.

The 911 still has its styling anchored in tradition, especially with the reintroduction of the dip in the center of the hood near the windshield last seen in the air-cooled era. The headlamps are LED units now, and are as flush with the nearly all-aluminum body as the electric pop-out door handles. And whether you opt for the all-wheel drive 4S or a rear-drive Carrera S like this silver model, the bodywork is the same.

The backside of the new 911 sports not one but two brake lights, one mounted in the middle of the air intake, the other integrated across the entire length of the retractable spoiler. This is so those behind you don’t run up on you and your 911 as you slow down through the corners with the spoiler raised.

Should you want a 2020 911 in your garage, Roadshow says the Carrera S and Carrera 4S can be had in the summer of 2019 for $113,200 and $120,600, respectively.
