10 Coolest Wraps We’ve Ever Seen

They may be wild, but these looks are one-of-a-kind.

Let’s face it, when you want to change your car’s look, you aren’t going to take your pride and joy down to the nearest MAACO. Paint is expensive and time-consuming, and it needs to be done right. That’s why the name of the game is vinyl wrapping nowadays. Want a color change? A wild graphic? A car wrapped in velvet? For a few thousand dollars, any qualified body shop can do it. It’s a great way to personalize your ride. And if you don’t like it, drop your car off and have them bring it back to stock.

Of course, not all wrapped cars are created equal. We’ve been a fan of them for a while, and from us to you, here are some of our all-time favorites.

Maro Engel’s Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM wedding car

Maro Engel's rosé champagne Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM touring car.

Mercedes DTM driver Maro Engel and his wife Steffi have just celebrated their one-year anniversary. While we wish the couple our best, they made headlines in October 2017 by arriving at their wedding in Maro’s company car: The C63 touring car that he competes in. And while it may have been a coincidence (he’s raced in this livery for a while) the bubbly rosé-colored wrap looked very appropriate for the occasion. “I knew, of course, that this is not necessarily the air-conditioned luxury vehicle that you would normally have on the way back to your hotel,” he says. Nonetheless, we can’t think of a cooler car to have on your wedding day.

Tron-inspired Nissan GT-R

Tron-inspired 2014 Nissan GT-R

We know there weren’t any cars in Disney’s 1982 classic Tron, but that hasn’t stopped generations of fans from wondering what Jeff Bridges would’ve raced in that super cool computer world. For our money, the Nissan GT-R would’ve been the perfect ride. Precision-built, brutally fast, and with an interior driving dynamics that feel like they’re already out of a video game, Nissan’s twin-turbo, all-wheel-drive supercar-slayer is the perfect car to get the Tron treatment. We aren’t sure where this trend got its start, but a number of Tron-inspired GT-Rs are out there. This one was spotted in 2014 in Guangzhou, China.

Cosmic Lamborghini Aventador Roadster

Space-wrapped Lamborghini Aventador Roadster.

Look, Lamborghinis were never meant to be subtle. That means outrageous colors straight from the factory, and more than a few, ahem, less-than-tasteful cars out on the road. But if you’ve made up your mind to make your Lambo even more outrageous, you can do far worse than taking it to space. Like, outer space big. This Aventador Roadster is certainly polarizing. But hey, at least it’s not another Batmobile.

Chrome 1991 Bentley Turbo R

Chrome-wrapped 1991 Bentley Turbo R.

A modern Bentley is categorically better than any model from the 20th century. But there’s a certain old-school elegance that you can’t replicate with a modern car. You don’t see many outrageously-wrapped classic exotics out there, but this 1991 Bentley Turbo R is an exception to the rule. At the time it was wrapped, this Turbo R was in great shape inside and out. But the owner felt that its Royal Blue paint job was a little too mundane. So, now, the car is completely chrome. It’s a hip-hop take on classic luxury. And we know we shouldn’t like it. But, well, here we are.

Cartoon-Style 2017 Tesla Model S

2017 cartoon-wrapped Tesla Model S.

Thanks to the popularity of Anime, cartoon-inspired wraps aren’t terribly uncommon. But it takes vision (and a lot of guts) to take one of the most groundbreaking cars of the 2010s and give it a convincing 2D look. Burnie Burns, the creator of the web series Red vs. Blue, did just that with his 2017 Tesla Model S. It shouldn’t work, but we love the way this looks.

Louis Vuitton/Supreme 2017 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Louis Vuitton X Supreme-wrapped 2017 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.

If you put Louis Vuitton, Supreme, and Ferrari together you’re just a Rolex away from 1% bingo. For those of you over the age of 25, this car’s charms are probably lost on you. But if you’re a teenaged son of a wealthy Middle Eastern businessman, then this car is a dream come true. In 2017, this car was built for a 15-year old “hypebeast” in Dubai. Less than a year later, it was for sold by Dubai-based Deals on Wheels for around $200,000. We wouldn’t be surprised if it went to another member of the young elite.

Camouflage 2016 Porsche 911 R

Custom-wrapped 2016 Porsche 911 R.

The Porsche 911 R is one of the most driver-focused and desirable Porsches in years (which is saying something). But its spartan white paint job left something to be desired for more than a few owners. That’s why we love this matte green and yellow one. White may be no-frills, but the green and yellow give it a purposeful, fighter jet look. It suits the 991-Series car well.

Gas Monkey Ford GT

Gas Monkey Garage Ford "BADD GT"

The Ford GT has always been impressive. But let’s face it: It may be a nostalgia-mobile done right, but it’s still a nostalgia-mobile. That’s why we can’t help but love Gas Monkey Garage’s “BADD GT.” Yes, it has an ad for the questionably tasteful garage’s tequila wrapped around its ’60s-style body. But it’s done in period-correct livery that wouldn’t have looked out of place on a track with Gulf-liveried Fords and Martini-liveried Porsches. It also helps that the garage heavily modified this GT to crank out 2,700 horsepower and hit 292.9 miles per hour. Oh, and did we mention that this car is still street-legal?

Velvet-Wrapped 2014 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead

Velvet-wrapped 2014 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead.

A Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead is arguably the most fair-weather of fair-weather cars. Built from 2007 to 2016, the convertible version of Rolls’ flagship could easily top the $500,000 mark. So it goes without saying that you’d be avoiding every pothole you could in this V12-powered cruiser. That’s why this velvet-wrapped Phantom actually makes sense to us. You can wrap any car in this soft-touch material. But you might as well do it to one that’s already going to be pampered beyond belief.

18-karat gold-wrapped 2018 Lamborghini Aventador S

18K gold-plated Lamborghini Aventador S.

Some would argue that we’re living in a new Gilded Age. We’d argue that this Islamabad, Pakistan, real estate tycoon didn’t get the message. Recently, Kunwar Moeez Khan imported this gilded Lambo into Pakistan, earning the title of the first man to import a gold-covered car into the country. According to news site PK on Web, the car, the 18-karat gold-leaf wrap job, and taxes set him back a cool $1.6 million.
