I looked into this in both Spanish and English media. They are not saying he's driving for Ferrari beginning with Euro GP and going forward. The rumor is that the deal is inked for 2010 and 2011 seasons. This possibility has been swirling ever since he left McLaren. I tend to believe it is a done deal, or close to a done deal. It's an obvious move for him and Ferrari. And the F1 teams tend to sign deals during this break every year. Kimi will most likely call it quits and retire to focus on rally. Vettel is tied up and still a hair too inexperienced to be Ferrari's no. 1 driver. Massa certainly doesn't fit the bill--pre or post accident. So Luca probably sat down separately, confidentially with both Kimi and Alonso over the break and it's probably done in principal if not yet on paper.
The rumor is that Ferrari will present him at Monza. Ferrari announces everything at Monza. That's where Schumi announced retirement. Kimi announced there. It's after the break on home turf, etc. I desparately want to see a good, strong Ferrari v. McLaren fight in 2010 like the good ol' days. What makes it more rich is that it will be Lewis v. Ferny. Oh this is gonna be GOOD!!!! |
