car is drivable again but, of course there is always a but, on the original 355 pump. which means that the mech said the car STILL flashes sometimes. mind you, this is on other (not brand new) solenoids

so the power unit i bought (pic in box in my previous post) seems to have taken care of the butchering that the independent shop did with my original unit's solenoid valves

i will now see if those 355 motor pumps can be sourced independently, 99.9% chance is that it is a huge NO, but whatever it is worth a shot

otherwise, i would still much prefer of course to install the Hill Engineering adapter and a 360 pump

i am happy, but a bit underwhelmed when i got word that it is "drivable", i think i will need seat time to boost my energy again

will keep you guys posted

Great to hear that it's up and running again. Hopefully the driving experience makes up for the long wait and hassle!

thank you gentlemen i got a chance to speak with the AD following my last post

i made it clear that i would much prefer trying all options to try and fit the HE adapter with 360 pump, because the main idea from the beginning was to ensure that the car runs on a brand new, stronger pump. that will be in the works for saturday.

tomorrow they will try to see what the issue is when the HE adapter + 360 pump is mounted because the car does not shift, but the pressure is okay on the SD computer.
thus, it must be an issue with installation

there is some not-funny irony in that i did a full 360 trying to install a 360 pump
glad there is progress, looking forward to next week

if all goes according to plan, i should pick the car up tomorrow. excited as fvck. it will be on the original 355 pump.
things that will be worth it, installed: new clutch, clutch sensor, t/o bearing

things that are "meh why did i order, but at least it's brand new": gearbox rpm sensor, lower cover for the f1

things that were psuedo pissed away: f360 pump, f360 adapter kit
spoke with the owner of the Independent Shop and told him that i will be traveling for two weeks come Friday and he was VERY welcoming and pleasant telling me i must pass by to meet and discuss what i want saying "what is a right, is a right"

thing that made me appreciate my car more, as much as lose respect for ferrari: getting a used power unit

thing that will make it all worthwhile: installing the challenge grill

final word:
AD's mechanic says the HE adapter w/ 360 pump is causing problems pressuring the clutch too much that the t/o would not disengage. this is clearly something that shouldn't be happening out of the box.
he also reports that the flashing is STILL happening when he drove the car on the 360 pump (before it locks)

basically meaning i need to source independent Clutch Release Valves, which cannot be obtained separately since the manufacturer is under contract with ferrari.
alternative? ~$22k for a new power unit
or, passing over the mission now to my Armenian friends who are wizards at this kind of thing (unbelievable network in the gulf)

at this point i don't care how much the AD bills me, i'll pay it and go to Hajj (islamic pilgrimage) and hopefully come back to meet the owner of the Ind Sh to discuss what i want to be reimbursed for

good + other news
my usual shop that i regularly deal with (along with my dad who has been a customer for ages, more than 11 cars serviced there) is on the verge of a management shift.
80% chance they will be ordering a Sistema Diagnosi which will be perfect for testing the car there.
looking to take it there immediately from the AD's to order a new battery and check on the tires, wiring/piping/all else.
interior will be a nice change to work on (ac vents, centre console), until i see what can be done with clutch release valves
DEFINITELY NOT touching the major service kit until i make sure the management shift takes place and my Armenian friend is all-all at the shop

finally, maybe i should start saving 20k over the next 10yrs for a bnib power unit

out of the AD shop
drove it to my usual shop because i got word that my flight has been bumped to tomorrow night and not friday

will try to group all my spare parts tomorrow and leave them with my shop

goes into neutral, gearbox sign flashes, until it goes away, i can shift again

timely that i will travel tomorrow and have it somewhere i am ok with

Damn. The possibility of spending 20k on new power unit seems tough.
Keep us posted.

so, two months and a F360 later:
the hurt of missing the 355 has become bit more bearable although its superiority has indeed been confirmed. this led me to think with a straight head. the original indy shop owner spoke with me telling me to bring the car back to him since all doors are now closed and he is confident they can get it back to its original state: in other words, it would shift with the original power unit with my original pump and everything as it was. with a new clutch, sensor, bearing, if the flashing/blinking of the gear selection continues, i seriously have no idea what else i can do other than buy a new power unit, suck it up, and stfu

as it is now, at my friends' shop, the car is back on my original setup (original 355 power unit with 355 pump) as i have returned the used power unit (in post #71) i have gotten from another 355 owner who was gracious to return the 1.8k collateral i deposited.
my car now engages Reverse. this is what tells me the car could be "synced" as there is clear communication between the tcu, unit, and mechanical parts.

i will take it to the shop on saturday and will keep you guys posted if anything "interesting" happens.
at this point, all i want is for the car to drive as it was (even with its original nuisance of gear selection blinking when it heats up)

i will be so happy to park it right in the middle of the driveway and will have a smile on my face seeing it sporting the challenge grill even if i do not take it out except for times after 11.30pm on weekdays

ps: @Mietek i found a brand new power unit for the 355 for what was $11k but is now $11.6k this is from eurospares.co.uk, i can see myself spending that much on the 355 but not just yet. i soooo cannot afford it right now and even if i did i refuse to be so selfish in such a short time tbh!
