Too clarify, are you looking for a Submariner? Have not heard of a Submarine model.
Also you are looking for a replica?
I have not heard of a replica that is decently made or holds up in terms of actually working as a watch.

I would not waste a few hundred bucks on a replica to show I have a Rolex. I think a good watch that is not a replica will actually keep time and could still look nice.

Yep. Go with a nice Tissot, Seiko, or Citizen if your budget is too tight for the real thing.
