Possible Daytona allocation
#23
Over 5 years ago when I was in the market, the retailers made it seem as thought the SS black face daytona was like the 'holy grail'. And you could only get one on the used market for a few thousand above retail. Whether they were scamming me or not, I could not find one retailer that had one to sell me. Glad I did not get one because now I am trying to sell my two tone MOP.

rare is different than in demand. The demand meant you might have to pay over list but you could have bought a 100 of them if you were willing to pay the premium. Rare is a watch like a sky moon that you could not find one at all regardless of how deep your pockets are. I have run across SS Daytonas in the case on several occasions

Exactly Daytona is beyond played out and so old news. When I got my first one in 199, no one had them everyone thought I was nuts trading a steel and gold sub plus my ebel for a stainless watch lol

daytonas are definitely marketed in a way that goes beyond their actual 'worth' but then again all timepieces are and we all overpay for things that we don't need, but either admire or love or both
and imho it's a worthy watch and for 11.5k it certainly is a great purchase no matter what the alternatives are because it's a DAILY watch that can go with ANYTHING
over here you never see one in the stores and you'd have to talk to management to be allocated
