Question PAM339 will be no more...

I just heard that Panerai has/will stop making the PAM339 due to problems with the case material... anyone hear anything???

And is that good or bad for my piece????
I guess I need to take a little more care when wearing it

Hi Hani,
It's the same "characteristic" of the IWC top gun. The ceramic cases are brittle and if dropped, can crack or chip easily.

I think this is too much of a liability for watch makers - so it's back to the drawing board.

I'm still happy with the top gun. Just need to be more careful.

Is it a rare piece? Obviously it will become so once they stop production but i'm surprised!

It's not a ceramic case, but a "composite case", you have to understand, aluminium case + surface treatment.

And they don't stop the production. The 1500ex of the 339 are almost delivered.

The next composite watch, the PAM375 (a PAM127 with a "composite" case) will be delivered in the next few weeks.
