Question ? about Rolex Deep Sea

Okay, definitely being a newb on this topic. Why all the hate on the Rolex Deepsea. That's one watch that has caught my attention out of all the Rolex lines, but I'm sensing some hate. Enlighten me, please?

Random comments on TS and others regarding the size of it. Not sure what to make of it because it might be my perception? That watch has very much made it on my short list of next purchases so I guess I'm doing a little research.

I think most of the criticism is because of the size and thickness of the watch compared to the bracelet. The bracelet probably could have been a little beefier to match the size of the watch. Still a very nice piece.

Meh, like my Explorer II more. If I make a move it's going to be trading my Explorer and the Date for a stainless Daytona. Ahem... Gil?

Interesting. I like the new strap and retention mechanism.

It looks good if its too big, how about a GMT2 ?

I personally like the DeepSea, might be a future watch for me.

The watch looks really robust and can take some abuse

I owned it when it first came out, the Head is very heavy and it is a bit awkward as the bracelet is no larger then the std sport watches. Great piece though, buy it right resale is weak.

I've given it some harsh comments over the years and I will gladly repeat them. It's very top heavy and feels pretty bad on the wrist. Not only is the head incredibly disproportional to the bracelet, as mentioned above, but that sucks in more than just how it looks. I've worn a bunch of big watches but this one feels different .... a bit like strapping a small belt around a bowling ball.

I do love the new bracelet mechanism thingy though. But maybe all new Rollies have those? I've been over watches lately and haven't been into it much . . .
