WSJ: Valuations, Why Is This Watch Worth $312,000?

damn, but of all things I would spend a godly number like that on, that patek would be FAR FAR more likely for me to purchase than a car etc. That thing is an piece of art I would appreciate far more than a painting as well thats for sure...

I'm definitely a huge fan of Patek. The watches in person are absolutely beautiful, and when you look closely it is easy to see the detail put in to every watch. I'm never quiet sure what distinguishes a $30k watch from a $300k or $1.5mil watch, but I guess it's because I'm not in the market for any of them. They sure are great to look at though...

In a world of overcompensating, huge casings that would make Flavor Flav look subtle and straps that are better suited for your waist, I view any PP as a breath of fresh air.
...and I am 24.

I might be interested if I were to wear a suit all the time. The thing is, even if I were ungodly rich, I doubt I'd have more than a few Panerais, a Rolex Milgauss, and a couple of Breitlings. I just can't get into the classic style - I'll always choose chunkier, more technical-looking watches.

Maybe when I'm 80 smoking my pipe, in a plush smoking jacket whilst in the parlour, swilling my Granda Marnier, I'll consider buying a PP. Pretty sure the watch comes with a walker as well for the core demo buyers.
