The process to "plate" the watch is called PVD (Physical Vapor Disposition) This can be done by many companies here in the states. I think Gil had mentioned a while ago that he had someone who could do the process. I would contact him directly if anyone is seriously interested in doing this to an existing watch.

Bamford & Sons Limited Edition Rolex

Bastion of top-drawer British style Bamford & Sons has just come out with their own take on the classic and much-coveted Rolex Daytona Cosmograph, popularized by Paul Newman back in his racecar driving days. The London-based Bamford design team sourced 25 vintage Daytonas -- no mean feat in itself -- then customized them with an aqua blue face and a black PVD coating (a low-friction finish used by the military) over the stainless steel.
Bamford's wares are available Stateside from Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus, but this limited edition timepiece can only be ordered direct from the company's own UK store (they'll ship worldwide); it costs £14,995, or just over $30,000. Bamford previously customized a cool Rolex Submariner on a black leather strap, but the Daytona is in a class by itself.
If you happen to be traveling to London it's well worth a visit to their posh shop in Sloane Square to browse the full B&S range which is an artful combination of "innovation and heritage" (as they put it), featuring everything from cashmere blankets to limited edition sterling silver iPods. There's also an in-store café run by Daylesford Organic, featuring fresh produce from the aristocratic Bamford family's English country estates -- because you can't help but feel peckish after all that shopping.

I thought they were the only company that customize (blacken) Rolex. I was wrong! Seems like there are bunch of companies doing this. However, comparing the BOC watches, I like project X designs better.
Check out their limited edition (PXD SS1) which is the same as the blacken Submariner with army wrist band.
