Jaeger-LeCoultre | Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2

"Jun 17, 2008
The World of Watchmaking loudly applauded to the introduction of the Gyrotourbillon 1 as it was destined to become the world-first spherical tourbillon. Following the amazing success of the Gyrotourbillon I, Jaeger-LeCoultre has created its worthy successor characterized by technically innovative nature.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2 is based on the most remarkable Haute Horlogerie achievements. The new extraordinary timepiece, housing a cylinder-shaped balance-spring with end curves, proudly features the swiveling case of the Reverso.

Striving for absolute precision, the beautifully complex three-dimensional motion of the spherical tourbillon arrests attention by the unique speed of rotation of its two carriages. The spherical tourbillon comprises an inner carriage that performs a full rotation in 18.75 seconds, while the outer aluminum carriage completes a more common 60-second rotation. The distinctive shape of the Reverso case further accentuates the absolute beauty of this unmatched technical innovation.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2 accommodates a mechanical manually-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 174. The 58-jewel mechanism, 11.25 mm thick and composed of 371 parts, has been entirely crafted, assembled and decorated by hand. The large gold balance, almost insensitive to vibrations or shocks, oscillates at a rate of 28, 800 vibrations per hour. The movement of the Jaeger-LeCoultre watch offers an advantage of a 50-hour power reserve.

The transparent mineral glass dial features the Reverso numerals and baton-shaped hands in blued steel. The front dial of the timepiece displays the hours and minutes with help of two blued hands in the center of the sapphire sub-dial. The seconds are indicated by a blue index, being a part of the outer tourbillon carriage. The watch also provides 24-hour time-reading via a fine engraving on the wheel to the left.

The back dial showcases the power reserve indication on a sector-shaped bridge.

The reversible case of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2, comprising more than 50 parts, is crafted in 950 platinum. The case incorporates a security bolt preventing accidental case opening.

The white gold crown is used for winding the watch and time-setting. The case construction guarantees 30-meter water-resistance.

The new Jaeger-LeCoultre creation is secured to the wrist with an alligator leather strap fitted with a white gold folding clasp and offering great comfort on the wrist. The watch is available in a strictly limited series of 75 platinum pieces. " source- Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2 -Unbounded Sophistication Watches Channel
