Need a gift idea!

A very good friend of mine recently hooked me up with a position in the company he works in which resulted in a dramatic increase in my income. I'm thinking about getting him a new watch as a "thank you" present.

For the last 5 years he's been wearing the same <$200 ESQ quartz watch. He is very active (loves SCUBA and outdoor activities in general, especially in the water), and our work requires us to be on the move often. He does not care about watch brands/status and prefers something understated, so we'll avoid gold, Rolex, >43mm or super thick cases. But I would love to get him something of high quality, that can last through a lifetime of dives and triathlons, and look appropriate in most situations. Budget-wise, let's keep it under $7500 but, of course, it's not necessary to max out the budget if the perfect watch is sub-$2k.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Bell and Ross looks to have some nice stuff.
take a look at their "Type Marine collection" (~75% down the slider on all models) which is classic SS and black face.

cheers.

Omega comes to mind, modest designs that will last forever.

Huh, I was thinking about an Omega or IWC, but haven't looked at B&R yet. Actually, I had been pointed towards an Omega SMP Quartz (!!!)...he might appreciate being able to change the hour hand without stopping the clock more than an automatic movement. We fly between Houston and Orlando multiple times a month and that could really come in handy.

I have in stock a perfect watch. Omega Planet Ocean chrono on bracelet with orange bezel. $6K watch but will give a nice discount. Also have a nice deal on a Rolex Submariner. If he is a diver he will love either. Call me to discuss.

The PO certainly is a seriously sweet watch....if I do decide on that you might have to have 2! His birthday is in July, so one way or another I'll be getting with you very soon.

Keep the ideas coming, guys!

Not sure but maybe a JLC scuba? Surely some of the basic models can be within budget but then again I have no clue on pricing
A fifty fathoms also comes to mind...

I'd go for a Turbo watch, it tells time faster.

BTW....Chris Rice called, he said thanks for the lemonade. Miss ya buddy!
