The interesting thing is that - when it was introduced in 2005 - it was only about $200K.

Then it sold at auction in Hong Kong for $1.7 million in 2009.

Now that's what I call a return on investment!

Replicas have their place. If I'm on vacation I'd rather get mugged for my $700 Seadweller rep, than lose the real thing.

Then again if I just wore a $100 Seiko I probably wouldn't get mugged at all.

^^ Disagree. Replica's have no place. If everyone stopped buying them they wouldn't be in business. I'd rather wear a $50 casio than a fake anything else.
