I like Panerai's but....
WTF is with the pricing? I was thinking of upgrading my watch and saw what one of the Pam's I was interested in cost 10k used???
They are way overpriced, for the quality and movement.
Am I way off base here?

a lot of the "special" pam's cost MORE than the msrp...
good ol business 101
supply/demand.
if anyone ever got a new Pam under 4k you got lucky!
those days are gone!

That is very true, but still goes along with what he said, it's not worth those prices, and I agree!

you know guys...
go over to paneristi... and see how these guys act!
they usually have a minimum of 3 or 4 PAM's.... the true "panerai affcionados" are a tight bunch, a very specific type person.
it's a not just a watch.. it's a lifestyle. panerai should pay me for striking that!

Club,
I agree with you on the prices of the Pans......WAY too much in my opinion for that watch.
I bring a different perspective here as well - i buy what i think LOOKS cool - not for the name, the "movements" and all that jazz. So i saw the WELDER and thought it was RAD so i got me one (arrives next weeK).....i think until money is really no object or until i learn more about the actual guts of the watch, the history of the company, etc i will continue to shop the way i shop now.
Same goes for things like wine etc.....now that my brother in law is SUPER into wine i am finding myself learning more...AKA...trips to the wine store cost WAY more now

Personally, I grew to LOVE it, and price doesn't effect me getting one/several at all, like it use to bother me!
BUT in al reality and to most people, they aren't worth it for it's understated looks, they are similar to Porsche's as a comparison, most of us could have bought Ferrari's or Lambo's too, but we just love Porsche's heritage and driving experience, classic looks and lines and so on!
