My New Addition . . .

My New Addition . . .
Today my Chopard Mille Miglia Gran Turismo XL was delivered to the Chopard store at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. It is one of only 2 "Speed Black" faced GT XL Limited Edition models currently in the U.S. If any of you have followed this forum, I have been looking forward to getting this watch for some time. I am proud to share it with my Team Speed family.
Please forgive the amatuerish photos. My son does a much better job than me but he had gone to bed when I took them. I just couldn't wait to share.

This is my largest watch - 44 mm case - and features a power reserve that looks like a gas gauge and an exhibition back with a map of the Mille Miglia circuit engraved on it (not pictured - maybe later). The strap is made from Dunlop tire rubber from a tire actually used in the Mille Miglia race.
The watch comes with a lot of cool extras. It comes with a tire gauge, a beach bag, hat and a set of personalized license plate covers. All of these pieces are monogramed with my initials and the Mille Miglia insignia. It also comes with a book and map commemorating the great Mille Miglia thousand mile race. If any of you have followed vintage racing you know the significance of the Mille Miglia and how it helped build the Ferrari brand.
The Chopard people at South Coast made a big deal about presenting it to me. They treated me better than the folks at Newport Beach Porsche when I bought my Turbo! It was very cool.
Many of you have such great collections. They have inspired me to continue to build mine. Fine watches are such a joy - nearly as great as cars!
This is not my most valuable watch. But it probably means the most to me because of how long I waited and the way it was presented to me.
Thanks for sharing this with me.
For those who have not seen, here is a link showing the rest of my collection:

Sweet Jox!! I almost bought that very one. But I got the Limited Edition version with the power reserve. Thanks for welcoming me to the club! This is my first Chopard but my wife has had one for about a year - floating diamond version.
Seeing yours just reconfirms how much I wanted this watch. Thanks for sharing it with me brother.

It's a must have for every car enthusiast
The Dunlop strap rules! I love how it's classy yet sporty at the same time and flies under the radar when you want it to. It's a "Hey, nice watch - what is that?" and you've just started a half-hour talk about Mille Miglia rather than "Oh you have a Rolex - what do you do for a living and how much money do you have?". Maybe that just happens in Sweden though ... LOL
Now if only I could snap a few shots half as good as yours!
