Bahamas - The Atlantis

My family and I are going to the Bahamas in June and are staying at the Atlantis, in the Harborside Resort area. I know the place is huge and there is a ton of stuff to do, but any tips, advice, or recomendations on activities? How about restaurants? There seems to be many on-site...worth checking out? Need reservations? We're a family of five (16,18,22, mom and dad).

You must go to the Greek resturant in downtown. It is on the 2nd floor.

I didn't stay at the hotel, but we were there for a couple days during a cruise. You gotta really explore the grounds of Atlantis to actually see/find all the amazing secluded pockets at that place. There are tunnel/caves and paths everywhere. Most of it looks really nice at night. The water slide through the pyramid is an obvious attraction(IIRC, when going through the clear center of the slide, the outside is tanks with sharks). All the little beaches and pools are amazing. Really, you just have to explore, whether it be the resort, the island, or the sea. We took a snorkeling tour, and it was amazing.

Khan hit it right on the head. You just have to explore. There are cool things to see everywhere. The natural habitat aquarium is all around you. All of the restaurants were terrific, but Fathoms was our favorite. And yes, you must make reservations for dinner each night. In the main floor of the Towers there is an outrageous breakfast buffet. Start your day there. Giant waffles with fresh fruit and whipped cream every morning FTW.

I've been looking at going there too. Look forward to hearing what you think.

I went there in Aug '05, and it was great. Make reservations. I loved all the food when I was there. My girlfriend and I had a lunch/Dinner meal plan, and it was too much food. I think it was called the american plan. We ate at the Bimini, Carmines, Mama loo's, and the bar inside the casino. I can't remember where else, but all the food was great.

Look up Stuarts Cove for snorkeling or scuba. Other than that, we didn't leave the resort.

The aquarium and waterslides were great.

Have fun.

Miboxer just reminded me about the meal plans. Definitely look into their best meal plan, which basically allows you to eat lunch and dinner anywhere you want. Without it, food gets real expensive, real fast.

I remember laughing as we ordered multiple $100 appetizers, because we weren't paying for any of it.

Wife and I went there a few years back. It was overrated and overpriced. The resort was nice but there are many places I would choose over it.
You will find lots to do there but will probably be bored after 3 days.
