Cote d'Azur in August

I'll be in the Riviera August 19-22. I've been researching the best location to spend some relaxing time on the beach with a decent night life, but I'm completely confused as to where to go. I'm flying into Nice, but will go anywhere. Can anyone give me some suggestions or opinions for the best city / hotel to stay in? Money isn't an issue, but location and amenities are important to me. Are most beaches private? I'm travelling with a girl that has never been to Europe, so I'd like to make it special for her.

Thanks,

El Duderino

Monte Carlo is great but I would go and stay in Cannes

Yes the Martinez is very nice and if money is no object the Intercontinental Carlton is the prime luxury.

to eat I like the cafe the paris, near the casino and open air. but is quite slow service... that's the only thing that I don't like it. and in monaco, to sleep... the hotel the paris is he most expensive, but the sporting have lots of parties and it's on the beach.

and Condor says something interessant. cannes is really nice place.. If I were you.. I go one day to Saint Tropez (it's really beautiful) one or two in cannes and one or two in Monaco. (I do that every summer xD)
