Seattle --> San Fran: Road Trip!

At BuzzedHornet's suggestion, we hit Mother's for dinner. The food was great, particularly the pot roast. I basically looked at it and it fell apart, it was so tender.

And one of my favorites, fried ravioli

And the Macaroni and Cheese du jour. Delicious.

And at JT's suggestion, Cupcake Jones. Yes, the trip was 1/2 about food

Back on the road early, we got miles and miles of amazing landscape. Oregon is absolutely stunning, and those who rise early are rewarded with incredible views, even while flying down the highway!

So I don't know if there was an event somewhere, or if it was just the perfect day for a cruise, but we passed dozens of classic cars and hot rods.

Grant's pass. I love the speed signs... it's not a "limit"? Just a suggestion?

Ok, so you can't see it, but on the other side of this Camaro, there were 2 girls that looked about 14. And the driver was not their father...

There were as many of these guys as there were classic cars:

Made it to the coast at Crescent City. Rugged and beautiful.

Very difficult to see in a low-res online picture, but this lighthouse was pretty freaking cool.

The part of the trip I was personally most looking forward to

The first big tree we saw conveniently had a Volkswagen under it to offer perspective

I've driven a lot of amazing roads, and this ranks near the top for sheer "amazingness"

A landmark Atomic80 told me to look for... Will we ever know???

More incredible California coastline

I'm sure most of you have done it, but to stand under one of these things you can't help but truly stand in awe

Understatement of the week

We stopped for the night in the middle of Avenue of the Giants, at Garberville AKA gathering place of the Roamer, Wanderer, Nomad, Vagabond
Call me what you will...

But the hotel was decent and we had some good pizza at this place

1/2 Hawaiian 1/2 Pepperoni/Jalepeno... that's how we roll!

Back on the open road. Love it.

Foreground: Normal trees. Background: Giant trees.

I wonder if this tree made a sound?

Some dudes chillin' by the side of the road

Me telling my wife "Can't we stay a few more minutes? Please?!"

Driving into San Francisco was a wet, foggy, but killer view!

Entering the city, I look to the right and I see.... BALLERZ!

And this li'l racer was waiting to be valet parked at the hotel

First thing I do in a hotel is check out the view and take pictures. Yes, I have a disease.

So the first day we were there it was cloudy, rainy, cold, wet. So naturally we decided to walk across the city from our hotel on Howard all the way down to Fisherman's Wharf. Yeah, the rumors about it being hilly are true
Nice to stretch our legs after so much driving.
Some iconic San Francisco row houses

I'm not sure, but this may or may not be Chinatown. Kind of hard to tell...

Yes, the clouds are breaking!

No comment, just one of many interesting people we saw on the walk

Coit tower.

We caught the tail end of Fleet Week

So what's SF without sailors? [jk]insert joke here[/jk]

We took a boat out, and despite the weather, the city looked amazing. Check the carrier under the bridge

Slightly horror movie-ish

Chocolate anyone?

Or Koala Sourdough?
