First time in New York - Must do's?

Hi guys,

Heading to New York for the first time with my girlfriend in a week, would love to get some tips on what to do and where to eat.
We've already booked in a dinner at Per Se and my gf has a whole list of places to eat at but it would be good to get some must do's.

We're booth foodies at heart so is there any restaurant we must not miss? Any cool hotels or bars to visit just for a drink? Jazz clubs that allow people under 21 (my gf is 20)? Watch boutiques? Stores?

Thanks all

As far as foodies, when you're in NYC the high-end restaurants are of course world class, but don't sleep on a random pizza place, or even street vendors. The real classic NY food!

Hopefully New Yorkers will chime in and offer some local favorites, because there are literally a million different things you can do in that amazing city.

Some great food / hangout spots:

1. Tartine (small, amazing food) - west village
2. 10 Degrees (lounge / wine bar, best wine: Justin Paso Robles) - east village
3. Peep (brunch) - soho
4. Cafeteria - Chelsea
5. Any random pizza joint (this is a must after ~2AM) - 8th ave up from 10 Degrees about two blocks is my spot at the moment.

Site seeing:

1. Metropolitan museum
2. Wall St, Brooklyn Bridge, South Street Seaport (general downtown area)
3. Times square (just for the spectacle)

Little italy has a few good restaurants.

Metropolitan museum is a must.

Stay somewhere mid town, best location.

Best street food is next to the Hilton on Ave of the Americas. Great lamb.
