$380 million Monaco penthouse
Monaco has become , across time, synonymous to opulence, richness, luxury and exquisiteness, and so are the residential facilities throughout this miniature European state. The world’s elite, alongside the most renowned stars ever, have been choosing it as residential destination or just for their holidays, therefore Monaco has become one of the most famous places in the world.
With luxury and opulence comes price, thus this small country boasts the most expensive properties per square meter. The penthouse we’ve featured here will reportedly be listed for sale during 2014, integrated part of the 170-meter tall Odeon Tower – the future second tallest building on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea.
This residential assembly will boast twin towers with 70 luxury apartments, each of them including 6 bedrooms. The cherry on the cake though is a 3,300 square meter multi-story penthouse replete with private water slide and exclusive infinity pool. Officials estimate the value of this staggering penthouse at $388 million – this easily makes it the most expensive penthouse in the world.
Such an impressive project comes fit with famous, strong names like architect Alexander Giraldi, spearhead of the project, landscape architect Jean Mus as grounds designer and the Alberto Pinto agency, responsible for the interiors. These people promise a stunningly delightful appearance, as every apartment in the Odeon Tower will boast floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces with breathtaking views over the Monaco, Ligurian Sea and Larvotto beach.
Some of the details, which will probably make you drool, follow – private chauffeured limousines, cinema, swimming pools, private spas, full-time concierge and Russian and Turkish saunas. To say the least, the construction has begun in 2009 and will reportedly meet completion by July 2014.

Provence & Côte d'Azur: In a rare incident, a yacht was allegedly highjacked near Corsica and its owners abandoned at sea
Pirates at large
A group of four pirates reportedly highjacked a yacht near the southern coast of Corsica, taking the three people on board hostage for several hours before abandoning them aboard an emergency dinghy.
While in the Roccapina gulf, near southern Corsica, the 17 metre ‘Armageddon’ was allegedly boarded on Sunday 16th February by a group of four masked and armed men, who proceeded to subdue the yacht’s owner, his wife and a friend of theirs, Corse Matin reports.
After having been locked up in a cabin for several hours, the hostages say they were forced to board the yacht’s emergency dinghy where they were abandoned at sea as the pirates sailed away with the ship.
This type of incident is quite rare in the region, though a yacht trafficking ring between the Côte d’Azur and Tunisia was dismantled in 2006, leading to eight convictions. Two of Tunisia's former dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali’s nephews were charged with being the instigators of the ring, but they were never tried.
In an unrelated story, a man drew a gun on a 25-year-old driver overtaking him on the A57 highway near Pierrefeu, Var Matin reports. He was arrested shortly after and confessed but gave no explanation for his actions.

I live in Missouri, but we have similar laws to Texas in regards to firearms. We have "castle law" where you have the right to defend yourself with deadly force if you fear your life is in danger in your dwelling. This counts as a house, apartment, car, even a tent camping I believe.
In Texas you can even shoot if the threat is on the property. Not even in a structure.

Provence & Côte d'Azur: Alexei Kuznetsov has been on an international wanted list since 2010
Russian fugitive detained near Saint Tropez
The Moscow region’s former finance minister, Alexei Kuznetsov, has reportedly been arrested and detained by French police in Saint Tropez. According to the Russian media, the fugitive ex-politician was placed on an international wanted list when he was charged in absentia for fraud, embezzlement and money laundering totalling around a quarter of a billion euros.
Following years on the run, luck has finally run out for wanted Russian Kuznetsov. The former finance minister for the Moscow region was reportedly arrested and detained at a hotel in Gassin, just outside of Saint Tropez.
The French police are expected to hand over their prisoner, sending the alleged fraudster back to his native Russia where he could face lengthy jail time.
Kuznetsov was part of Boris Gromov’s government but resigned in 2008 and left the country soon afterwards. Within a few months of his sudden departure, police supposedly looked into his affairs as finance minister and later launched a criminal investigation.
The ex-official was charged in absentia for the embezzlement of over 10 billion rubles, roughly 250 million euros, which came from the region’s finance budget. He was also charged with fraud and money laundering.
Kuznetsov has been on an international wanted list since 2010 but the search for the former minister only really picked up speed, when Russia’s Investigative Committee head Alexander Bastrykin met with French police, according to the Russian media.
It is unclear how long Kuznetsov had been living in the south of France but police reportedly found a handful of fake passports belonging to the fugitive when he was arrested.
