Robberies remain high on the Côte
While the number of burglaries on the Côte d’Azur may have dropped by a third over the past 10 years, latest statistics reveal that it is still a major problem with 35 a day.
Published by crime statistics body ONDRP (Observatoire National de la Délinquance et de la réponse penale), the report highlights all the initiatives taken to combat the phenomenon, although the effect they have is not always consistent.

It is a very big problem. People tend to be very surpriced as the French government / local aut. avoid to warn the tourists about the dangers.

My family owns a house in this region. We had to put a private security company doing surveilance 24/7! Cote d'Azur its not what it was before. My parents own this house for 12 years now, more or less, they are even thinking about selling it. Several family friends already had problems, the city mayors are doing everything to guarantee security, etc, working closely with the authorities, but everyone is really scared about this robbery wave.

Classic case scenario: Robber(s) sneak inside the house. A family member(s)/owner caught them in the act, robber(s) doesnt know what to do and opens fire. Robber(s) escape and an innocent life gone.
Maybe a "STATE POLICE FORCE" can be useful a group with the authority all over the municipalities equiped with rapid response units in stategic locations. Something that gave a positive view to the citizens and also intimidating the scum thugs.
