I've also never had a problem flying long haul with KLM. They also have hot stewardesses.

is cheaper than
USA > London > USA

Wow, lots of forethought here. I usually get in the place, suck it up for a couple hours and am done with it. As long as it doesn't crash I'm fine with it. I don't care what airline, what plane, what airport or who's next to me (unless she's cute ... which has seldom happened).

SoCal is an unknown quantity at this point
I fly in/out of Europe a few times a year. I prefer Emirates and surprisingly, American. Fly Virgin if you get a chance; they have great attendants and the planes are all set up pretty well. I have heard that people have problems with American (as evidenced in quite a few above posts), but which airline doesn't have problems? I also do NOT recommend Etihad, but that is just me. Have a fun trip.
