NYC Hotels
Heading to NYC this summer for 5 nights... The better half and I have never been, and are looking for a nice place to stay.
Not looking to go big with Ritz or St Regis
(rather put $$$ towards nice dinners)
Anyone have recommendations? Again we have never been so we are assuming that Times Square is where we will want to stay. The only "must do" is the Yankees vs Red Sox game that we will be attending
Thanks for all your help in advance

Hotel QT is exactly what you're looking for. Pretty fun place, the rooms are decent sized by NYC standards, and the rates are usually $200-300/night, especially if you book this far in advance.
Where do you plan to eat?

QT is an excellent choice. Also look at the Dream on 55th, the W in Union Square, the Tribeca Grand, Embassy Suites in Battery Park, The Giraffe, the Gramercy Park Hotel, and the Hotel on Rivington.
My advice, though, is to get out of Times Square and other tourist areas. You'll see more interesting parts of NYC that way.
I should update the "Welcome to NY Post" on my Team Speed Blog to include some hotels... Check the blog post, by the way, for some food recommendations.

The Warwick is in a good spot....and about $300 or so a nite. The W Times Square is also in a GREAT location for the TS area....but a lil more like $400 a nite.
If you have never been to NYC, then obv you are going to want to see times square...but once youve seen it - like the others have said - get out of there and see the REAL NYC! lol

Ok new question... After looking it seems like a MUCH nicer/trendier hotel can be found just outside the square for a much better price... Problem is I don't know locations at all in NYC... Any Recommendation on a place that is very hip and trendy yet affordable....
I don't want to be MILES away from everything, but walking distance is fine....
Thanks

i like staying anywhere between 30-40s between 5-7th (which includes Times Sq) b/c it's equidistant to everyone i like to go in Manhattan. nothing is more than a 45 minute walk away; and if it is, there are abundant taxis and subways.
