Need Northeast "Getaway" ideas for a gift...

Hey guys,

Was wondering if someone can help me out with some getaway ideas up in the Northeast. This would be just a little vacation I'd be sending my parents on.

They would be traveling from New Jersey; most likely by car. They like the whole bed and breakfast thing.

Needs to be upscale.

Needs to be a "cool" place, not cool as in the sense of crowds; but maybe a trendy little town with some interesting things to do/see. My parents are young (in mid-to-late 40's), so nothing "old and farty".

New Hope and Upper Black Eddy are places they love, but they've done them too many times, and they want a place a little further.

My parents like Martha's Vineyard too, except my mom isn't a huge fan of the 6 hour boat ride there.

They loved Kennebunkport Maine, and Cape May NJ... I was thinking maybe somewhere in Maryland this time around?

My mom likes the whole "romantic" thing... My dad likes the whole "fishing" thing.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In Maryland I would recommend St. Michaels. Has some historic B&Bs and the St Michals Harbor Inn more modern with marina. Also the Inn at Perry Cabin, again larger like Marina Inn but more upscale.
Cute shopping there on historic main street, local, nothing fancy. Maritime museum, which is an open air living museum, shows you crabbing and stuff. Can charter day trip boat ride there for sightseing or fishing.

From there maybe a day trip by car to historic Oxford, short Ferry ride, maybe 10 minutes.

St Michaels is only 20 minutes from where I live by boat, happy to take them on a boat ride for lunch. Jacky and I are in our early 40s.

MV is my favorite 'destination' in the NE. 6 hour boat ride?? Drive up to Woods Hole then take the 45 minute ferry to the island.
