Santa Barbara - Best place to stay?

I'm going out to visit my Uncle for his 93rd birthday next month.

I've stayed at places as varired as Bacara and the Best Western before.

Where else would you all suggest as top notch accomodations?

The Andalucia is also very nice with a great rooftop area. It is also very close to downtown. It is one of my favorites in SB.

Thanks for the recommendation!

It looks like Andalucia has changed its name to the Canary Hotel.

I'm a fan of Bacara. I was there when they first opened. It's a fabulous place. If you end up staying there, let me know if it's changed at all.

Bacara is one of my favorites as well and if you want a spa experience it is a better choice. However, it is away from downtown so not nearly as convenient(if you are willing to stay outside of SB then you might consider the Biltmore Four Seasons in Montecito...Best Sunday Brunch anywhere!) if you want to do things downtown SB, but they do have some great restaurants at the resort and take good care of you, their pool area is really well done and the nightime ambience is really kickin' with decks, fireplaces and comfortable couches/benches everywhere. Everytime we stay there we see someone from Hollywood, which my wife loves. I was hanging out with William Peterson(Gil Grissom on CSI) in the Spa last time and it was cool to talk with him a little bit.

Can't go wrong with either the Canary(Andalucia) or Bacara. Also, if you want a
B&B the Cheshire Cat is a quaint little place downtown SB. For nicer B&B try the Simpsonhouseinn.com
