Need a good recomandation for a weekend getaway for myself and lovely fiance in Southern Cali.

 

They are all lovely at that stage.

 

The Montage Resort in Laguna Beach is a total winner. You just can't go wrong there. The rooms are incredible - all ocean view - and the restaurants are second to none. The Studio restaurant is arguably the best in OC. The spa is also top notch. You are very close to South Coast Plaza too.

You won't regret it.

Bacara Hotel is really nice especially if you get an ocean facing room. My wife and I stayed here when we were in Cali last year.

what are you looking for, a relaxing retreat? shopping? beach scene? food scene?

 

BIG +1 on either the Montage or Bacara.

Montage - Beautiful, full service resort in a location close to numerous "hip" and fun things to do..

Bacara - Beautiful, full service resort in a more isolated location.

If you want a very isolated, "romantic getaway" type of weekend with lots of privacy where you barely ever leave your room and order room service the entire trip, then I would choose San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara without hesitation.
