I should also point out to anyone reading this thread - this is a lesson in diminishing returns. If you are a sushi neophyte, start at the bottom and work your way up to truly appreciate the most expensive options. If you haven't tried a place on this list, start with Sushi Yasuda (NYC) and see what you think. If you find that it blows away the standard you're used to, start moving up the scale; if not, you lucked out and you'll save a lot of money in your life

josh, it's not just canoga park, it's a hole in the wall in a ratty strip mall. you would never guess. i stumbled upon this place when i first moved into the valley because it was next to my dry cleaner.

Brit, if you want to try it, let me know. I've known the chef for over 7 years and consider him a personal friend. I will make sure that you get the REAL sushi...it will change your perspective. Just let me know.

I think the chef will be fine with 4 of us. Just give me a few days notice. Also, he just told me that he is going on vacation for a few weeks very soon so if you want to go, perhaps we should look at the next week or two...
