Steakhouse Wars!
Lots of great steakhouses these days for fine food afficianados to enjoy!
Best steakhouses in my area are Morton's, Mastro's, and Ruth's Chris; at this point my favorite of the three is probably Mastro's, with Morton's being a close second. Ruth's Chris just doesn't quite seem to be as good as it used to be?
I saw a Delmonicos in Vegas when I was there earlier this week, does anyone know how the steaks are there?

If you guys are ever in the DC area, the Prime Rib is a great place to go.
I personally will never go back to a Morton's again, they do that show where they bring out the fresh lobster, my girl ordered one (I know, who orders lobster at a steak house) and it was without a doubt something frozen that was nuked by a microwave.
Ruth Chris' is always consistent, and Charlie Palmer is great.
The Cowboy ribeye on the RC menu is so marbled, coupled with the butter, you know its going to be a winner before it even gets to the table.

I agree with Robert on Mortons in San Jose as the best local steak place, but the best I have ever had wast Bern's in Tampa (http://www.bernssteakhouse.com/) incredible wine list the size of most city phone books!

My local faves are Del Frisco's, Three Forks and Lawry's (for Prime Rib). Rick Steins, Chamberlains and Bob's Chop House are great choices as well. A new local player, The Silver Fox, with three locations is getting a lot of good press.
While I tend to prefer smaller, independent establishments or local restaurants with a limited number of locations to national chains, I really DO like the fact that you can go to nearly every major city, find a Ruth's Chris or Morton's or some other reputable chain steak house and have a solid steak meal. Sadly, Smith and Wollensky closed their doors in Dallas recently, but to be honest, their food and service were far below that which I remember from 10-20 years ago in NYC when I lived there.
