1 day old pilot super sport punctured

Got a puncture less than a day after mounting my new Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I am getting it patched and rebalanced since I don't have a spare.

Will this affect balance and handling? Should I just get a new tire?

If it can be patched, I say do it.

I have never hesitated to patch my SS tires. I have not noticed any issues.

AFAIK, you are not allowed to repair high speed rated tires in. de, and have to replace both tires on the axle.

And since tirerack has tire shaving service to match tread depth, I say for peace of mind just get a new one.

Tire shaving would probably be unnecessary since age difference would be a week.

sorry to hear. you should be fine having it patched (not just plugged)

if you run on the track in timed event, i'd replace it and sell the patch one.

Can you confirm there is no cord damage?

I don't do timed laps, but I do track occasionally. So if it will affect behavior of the car, I will replace it.

I'm not sure, but I did notice the car pulling a to the right 1 lane in 5 seconds at 85 mph highway driving. I had an alignment done when the tires were mounted, so there may be some cord damage.

I'm taking it to my race alignment specialist tomorrow. He's going to check the dealer alignment and also look for radial pull in all 4 tires.

You can repair them but dont think it's good or Z rated anymore.

If you only do a handful of little sprints to show speed it really won't matter. If you drive hard a lot and work the tires hard buy a new one
