A homebuilt gitfiddle
I just came across a couple pics that I'd lost of a homebuilt fiddle that I put together and painted. I did this piece back when I was a Zakk Wylde/Black Label Society fan. (do a web search for Zakk Wylde 357 scam, and you'll see why I'm no longer a fan. I personally busted the man for the poser that he is)
A friend of mine wrote a book on painting/airbrushing guitars
home made fiddle next to my Ernie Ball Petrucci

The almost finished product

Thanks! Took me a month to do it, but even still, it was surprisingly easy. Just time consuming for the sake of making sure the paint was completely dry.
Hell, the hard part was making sure I sanded it correctly, and masking.
I put Bill Lawrence pups in it, in both the neck and bridge, but reversed the neck pup. Lawrence pup's in case anyone would be curious are the pups that good ole DimeBag from Pantera used before he got a deal to have pups labeled under his name; which were Lawrence rip offs.
I also did a regular and "buzzsaw" bullseye. A buddy of mine had a great line on kit guitars that are really good quality. So prior to the whole Zakk Wylde/357 scam, I really enjoyed his style; and just plain liked his guitars, but never willing to pay the $4k to get one. A buddy of mine who does custom guitar work showed me how to work an airgun, and away I went.
I've also done a Frankenstrat, and a 5150 that came out awesome. People liked em so much, I ended up selling most of them after I destroyed my left arm last fall.
Probably do an obnoxious American flag Les Paul in a couple months.

Painted. A buddy showed me how to use an airbrush and frisket. I'm an old Army guy, so painting camo is second nature.
The base coat was black. When that coat dried I put painters tape down, then used a compass to do the circles for the bullseye, and whatever spots of black I wanted to remain. The rest was just frisket cut up, removed, replaced; repeat with another color. Took about a month just to make sure that everything was dried.
Too bad Zakk Wylde turned out to be such a tool by ripping people off.
