Brothers in the Middle East: Your guidance please!
I have heard some music in a few places that is absolutely influenced by Middle Eastern music. It was very ethereal and extremely relaxing.
I am not sure how to classify it! I don't want to call it electronica, but it was had plenty of synth, many modes that are common to Arabian, Persian and Turkish music.
I especially love the percussion especially when accompanied by a sitar.
Here are a few examples:
YouTube - Arabian n Persian Music - Welcome To The Middle East .
YouTube - Arabian Melodies - Welcome To Babylon
This is Jordan Rudess playing Sitar on a keyboard, but it is great.
YouTube - Jordan Rudess demonstrating his sitar playing on Korg Oasys
Now where can I find music that incorporates the percussion, the sitar, and a little electronica? I've heard some with a very fast tempo, and some like in the video's above. But I have no idea where to start!

Yes, yes yes!
I love the straight instrumental stuff the best!
And there is something about the modes that ME music contains that really helps me get into a groove. I love it especially when I need to get a lot of concentrated work done.
Thank you!
