I loved reading the story about the development of it in Wired.

Rumor has an all-electric Mini coming out in mid-to-late 2009. That is a car I would be interested in for around town.

Edit: Stupid California-only car. *shakes fist

I've been commenting to my friends, now that I'm with Tesla, that I feel like I'm working in the future. The Jetsons may not be too are off, especially with this car. Hmmm.....

Really!?

That thing would make me feel like I were driving around in a Cessna or something ... not that the feeling of driving up and down I95 is a Cessna is necessarily bad, just - I dunno - not a car?

The Tesla is an altogether different animal, same goes for rumored 'lectric Mini.

Actually, the aero shape is very similar. That's what I like about this car, it's engineered toward a set goal: affordable, practical economy. Not a warmed over car that was evolved from the early 1900's and stuffed with an electric motor and battery. While other electric/hybrids are struggling to get 100 mpg, this thing is getting 300 mpg by reducing weight and reducing drag.
