Lightbulb Tesla Sedan Images leaked

The first official photographs of Tesla's highly anticipated Model S have been prematurely leaked into the internet ahead of the all-electric sports sedan's official debut which is scheduled for this afternoon in Los Angeles. And yes, the first thing that came up to our mind is that the Model S's rear-end and profile bear a 'chilling resemblance to the new Jaguar XF.

Tesla's new proposal is set to arrive on the market in late 2011 with an anticipated base price of $57,400 or $49,900 after a federal tax credit of $7,500.

This obviously isn't a hot topic but its official now with some specs...
After a brief period of unofficial officialness this morning, Tesla has rolled out the Model S to a sea of eager photographers. The company's also revealed specs for the EV: this seven-seater can go from 0 to 60 MPH in 5.6 seconds, boasts a top speed of 120 MPH, features a dashboard display and a 17-inch main touchscreen monitor. It's fully 3G capable, sports HD and satellite radio, uses LED and neon exterior lights, smart-key power, and push button gear selector. While that $49,900 base price will get you a battery that's good for 160 miles per charge, 230-mile and 300-mile range packs will be available. On a 220V outlet, the company says it'll charge in four hours with a 45 minute "QuickCharge" option, and you should be able to swap batteries if necessary in under 8 minutes. Excited? Find a way to control yourself, this baby isn't going into production in Q3 2011. Check out a brief glimpse of the interior after the break.

If they really use one big touchscreen for the dash, that would be incredible! They just need to make sure to keep the cup holders VERY far away so nobody spills their coffee on the dash!

With a second trunk under the hood, cargo space in the Model S will reportedly be better than any midsize sedan on the market. Tesla claims a mountain bike with the front wheel attached, a surfboard, and a 50-inch television can all fit simultaneously.

Some more pics

Nice looking car. I like the new design of the electric cars. I really hope that they can live up to their hype, both Tesla and Fisker.

Looks good and I'm sure they will do good in that price category. For me Fisker Karma is the way to go!!

I love how they use a complete lcd screen for the entire console... Its such a great idea. Have everything controllable from one sleek display. Save the expense of making and designing new knobs, controls, everything...
